On the markets at 9:50 a.m. (ET):In Toronto, the S&P/TSX composite index was up 54.44 points to 15,872.44.The Dow Jones industrial average was up 62.47 points to 23,225.51.The Standard & Poor’s 500 index was up 7.70 points to 2,569.80.The Nasdaq composite index was up 26.88 points to 6,631.95.The Canadian dollar was trading at 79.42 cents US, down from Thursday’s average price of 80.14 cents US.
