He came back to win five of his next six matches. Molina started strong with three consecutive victories before losing 10-6 to Lemoore’s Willy Pendleton. Molina then assured himself a place on the podium with back-to-back victories. Lenny Romero turned in the Chiefs’ top performance with a fourth-place finish in the heavyweight division. Marcus Orona (112 pounds) and Angel Molina (152) also reached the podium. Orona took fifth while Molina finished sixth. center_img Santa Fe was ranked first in the latest CIF-Southern Section Division IV poll heading into Thursday’s Del Rio League matchup at El Rancho. La Mirada, thanks to a 45-39 victory over arch-rival Mayfair on Tuesday, improved its Suburban League record to 4-0. The Matadores, who battled Norwalk on Thursday, are rated ninth in Division IV. John Alaniz (145 pounds), Ryan Garrity (140), George Salcido (135) and Oliver Medenilla (119) lead a talented La Mirada squad. Medenilla took first place at the Troy Classic on Jan. 14.
