first_imgCleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James takes the floor for warmups before a preseason basketball game against Maccabi Tel Aviv Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, in Cleveland. (AP Photo/Mark Duncan)I have a dirty little secret. I am jealous of Cleveland basketball fans.I watched the Cleveland Cavaliers play the New Orleans Pelicans on November 10, 2014. For the second time this season, LeBron James and his Cavaliers played at home at the Quickens Loans Arena. Unlike the first home game against the Knicks, the Cavaliers won 118-111.Cleveland fans relished the opportunity to root for LeBron James again. The arena was packed. Once the Cleveland players get used to playing with each other, they are going to be a force to be reckoned with. The game was exciting, fun, and the fans were energetic and incredibly loud.Alexis Sara CobbIf this is the kind of game that Cleveland is going to be exposed to consistently than I’m jealous. Of course, admittedly my beloved Lakers have managed to win one game thus far this season so I’m jealous of just about every NBA team’s record. However, watching the game made me wonder, why doesn’t Pittsburgh have a NBA basketball team? It’s actually ridiculous.  There are thousands of Pittsburgh fans who would support them. I should not have to cross state lines to watch quality basketball. We need to have our own NBA team. Here are my takeaways:LeBron is a beast. He had 32 points, 11 boards and 9 assists. However, he insist upon missing free throws. It annoys me. His missed free throws were wasted opportunities to either extend the lead or try to gain the lead.Kevin Love makes the team dynamic. He had 22 points and made 6 three points. At one point, during the second half, he was unstoppable. The Cavaliers are no longer one dimensional but they have a big man who can run, rebound, defend, and create his own shot. LeBron has significant help.Anthony Davis is a young, raw, talent. He reminds me of a young Tim Duncan. He is not flashy but he gets the job done. He finished with 27 points, 14 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks. He is going to be special and the Pelicans’ entire team has great young potential.Ryan Anderson is the best player that you have no idea exists. He is New Orleans starting PF. He had 32 points which included 8 three pointers. He played like a machine. It was startling. Finally, in the spirit of full disclosure, I will tell you that I was sitting courtside at the game. And frankly, sitting courtside at any NBA game is one of life’s greatest treasures. The air is fresher, the seats are extra comfortable, and the view is simply spectacular. The players can hear you, see you, and acknowledge your presence. Are you envious? Good. Mission Accomplished.(Source for this story was AP) Alexis Sara Cobb may be reached at: [email protected] or (724) 561-8082 Follow her on Twitter: @alexissaralast_img read more
